Who we are
Acceptance Finance (“Acceptance”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is a trading name of Tudor Lodge Digital Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 10437769), with its address at 5 Fleet Place, London EC4M 7RD.
We are a credit broker, not a lender. We help UK businesses find funding by introducing them to lenders and finance partners on our panel.
For the purposes of UK data protection law, Tudor Lodge Digital Ltd is the controller of the personal data described in this policy. We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) under registration number ZB896300.
This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use acceptance.co.uk, apply for finance through us or contact us, and how we use and protect it.
The information we collect
Although we lend to businesses, we collect personal data about the people behind them — such as directors, owners, partners, guarantors and staff who contact us.
Information you give us
- Identity details – name, date of birth, job title and role in the business.
- Contact details – email address, phone number, business and home address, and address history.
- Business details – company name and number, trading history, turnover, and how much you want to borrow and why.
- Financial information – bank statements, management accounts, existing borrowing, and details of other directors or shareholders.
- Communications – messages you send through our contact form, emails, and notes or recordings of phone calls.
Information we collect automatically
- IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, how you arrived at our site and how you use our loan calculator. See our Cookie policy.
Information from third parties
- Companies House and other public registers.
- Our lending partners – for example, whether your application was approved and the outcome of any credit or identity checks they carry out.
- Introducers and comparison sites who refer you to us.
- Fraud prevention and identity verification services.
We do not intentionally collect special category data (such as health information). If you choose to share it — for example, to explain a period of difficult trading — we will only use it with your explicit consent and to support your application.
How we use your information
| What we do | Our lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Assess your enquiry and match your business with suitable lenders | Steps at your request before entering a contract; our legitimate interests in running a broking business |
| Pass your application to one or more lending partners | Steps at your request before entering a contract; legitimate interests |
| Verify identity and prevent fraud and money laundering | Legal obligation; legitimate interests in preventing crime |
| Respond to questions, updates and complaints | Legitimate interests |
| Send you updates about products we think are relevant to your business | Legitimate interests (for corporate contacts) or consent, where required by law. You can opt out at any time. |
| Improve our website, calculator and service | Legitimate interests; consent for non-essential cookies |
| Keep records, meet regulatory and tax requirements, and handle legal claims | Legal obligation; legitimate interests |
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have balanced them against your rights. You can ask us for more detail about this assessment.
Credit and identity checks
We do not carry out credit checks ourselves. Our lending partners may carry out personal and business credit searches with credit reference agencies (such as Experian, Equifax and TransUnion) to assess eligibility.
Initially this is usually a soft search, which is visible only to you and does not affect your credit score. If you decide to proceed with an offer, the lender may carry out a hard search, which will be visible to other lenders.
Each lender will explain how it uses your information in its own privacy notice, which it will give you when it receives your application. The credit reference agencies explain how they use data in the Credit Reference Agency Information Notice (CRAIN).
Who we share it with
- Lenders and finance partners on our panel, so they can consider your application. We only share what is needed to assess it.
- Service providers who help us run our business, such as website hosting, CRM, email, telephony and document storage providers. They act on our instructions only.
- Fraud prevention agencies, law enforcement and regulators where the law requires it or it is needed to prevent crime.
- Professional advisers, such as lawyers, auditors and insurers.
- A buyer or successor if we sell or restructure all or part of our business.
We never sell your personal data.
We may receive a commission from a lender when a loan completes. This does not change how we handle your data. See our Terms of use for more about commissions.
International transfers
Some of our service providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we make sure there are appropriate safeguards in place, such as a UK adequacy decision or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum. Contact us for a copy of the relevant safeguards.
How long we keep it
| Type of record | How long |
|---|---|
| Enquiries that don’t go ahead | 12 months from your last contact |
| Applications and completed loans | 6 years after the end of our relationship, to meet legal and regulatory requirements and deal with any claims |
| Anti-money laundering records | 5 years after the end of the relationship |
| Complaint records | 12 months from the date the complaint is closed |
| Marketing preferences | Until you opt out; we keep a suppression record so we don’t contact you again |
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete.
- Ask us to delete your data where we no longer have a reason to keep it.
- Restrict or object to how we use it, including objecting to direct marketing at any time.
- Receive your data in a portable format (data portability).
- Withdraw consent where we rely on it.
- Not be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing that significantly affects you. Our decisions involve people; lenders will tell you if they use automated decision-making.
To use any of these rights, email hello@acceptance.co.uk. We will respond within one month, and there is usually no charge.
Keeping your data safe
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls and staff training. Only people who need your information to do their job can see it. We will never ask for your online banking passwords.
